This is the beginning of my very much overdue blog. We are a family of 4 and this is our story.

Our family just returned from a truly unique mini vacation with family. We stayed in a "yurt" in Tuscarora State Park. It's better than pitching your own tent but not as fancy as staying in a hotel. They're really cool if you're looking for something in the middle of the two. You can cook in it, sleep in rather comfortable accommodations (bunk style beds), sunbathe on the deck, view the nighttime stars from the clear, plastic dome top (my favorite) and get out of the rain if need be. They are quite an ingenious invention and we have the Asian nomads to thank for that. The kids had a blast (see video). I think they felt free just riding their bikes, drinking from the spring, eating popsicles, making snowcones, eating s'mores by the campfire, enjoyng the bubble machine, fishing (Zach caught the first fish - soon as he dropped his hook, he got a bite), swimming in the lake even though the water was very cold!! But, you know, that never matters to a kid. The adults just chilled - a rare treat! There were nine kids total.

We celebrated my Aunt Julie's 60th birthday while there. We had a "flor-a-licious" cake. She never saw it coming. I bought her a birdhouse in the shape of a sandcastle...so cute and a remebrance of our yearly trips to Rehoboth Beach.

I took jugs and jugs of spring water home with me...just can't beat it!!

Since this was our first year at the yurts, we will most likely be making this a yearly outing. Yeah!!
